The complaints of some Massachusetts students have prompted the federal government to consider adding food allergies to the list of disabilities. I went to Georgia Regents University today to find out how that would impact students here.

The school refused, the Federal government got involved and required the institution to serve gluten-free foods and make other accommodations for students. That decision sparked debates on whether to add severe food allergies to the list of disabilities covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
GRU-A says that they have made labels available for all of their products for safety. If a student does have an issue with an allergy or questions, they can contact food services by phone or fill out and submit one of their survey cards online.
Whatever food allergies you have we can probably accommodate if its not too outrageous, assures Lamb.
We could actually create something that anyone could eat to accommodate everybody, Lamb explains.
If this legislation does pass adding severe food allergies to the A-D-A, Lamb feels that GRU-A will be prepared.
